Mahila Mandiram competed 90 years in the service of society on 5th January 2010. This landmark event was celebrated in 4 meaningful events on 1st, 5th,9th and 10th January. On NewYear day all the retired teachers were honored at a solemn function in which Dr Sambasivan, eminent Neurosurgeon and Professor Neurology (retd) delivered the theme address. Ms K S Chitra, “Nightingale of Kerala” was the celebrity guest who sang in praise of Universal Guru.

January 5th, the founder Chinnamma’s birthday was celebrated in prayer and praise of the legendary Amma who initiated social work among women of Kerala.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

A permanent feature at all events was the theme song on Hindu Mahila Mandiram written by the famous poet Mr O N V Kurup and set to melodious music by Mr Sunil Kumar, our Music teacher and sung by the choir group.

Celebrations came to an end with a Kerala feast shared by the Hindu Mahila Mandiram family. As we look forward to the centenary celebrations just 10 years from now, we seek good will and support from all our well-wishers to take up new challenges for the betterment of the underprivileged women and children.

On 9th, the Mayor of Trivandrum Mr Jayan Babu visited the Mandiram and declared open all the new facilities provided during the last few months. Director, Social Welfare Department, Mr P P Gopi, IAS declared open the new Biogas plant donated by Tata Elxsi Pvt Ltd in the presence of Mr R Natarajan, Center Head, Tata Elxsi who facilitated the event.

‘Kudumba Sangamam’ the family reunion on 10th January brought together many of the former residents and their families. They shared their experiences with the rest of the Mandiram family.The festivities were inaugurated by our patron Her Excellency Princess Aswathy Thirunal GouriLakshmi Bayi. At the function former office bearers were honoured and incentive gifts were presented to some of the staff and residents who performed meritorious services in the last few years.
